Approaching Quantum-Optimal Imaging without Prior Knowledge of the Object Location

Abstract

Spatial-mode-sorting (SPADE) receivers surpass Rayleigh’s criterion for in coherent imaging but are sensitive to nuisance parameters (e.g., misalignment). Our multistage detection strategy uses preliminary physical measurement(s) to build up required prior information for near-quantum-optimal, sub-diffraction imaging.
