Abstract

Compressive spectral imaging aims at recovering a 3D data cube from a set of 2D random projections. Coded Aperture Snapshot Spectral Imaging (CASSI) is an effective architecture used to measure compressive projections. This paper presents a matrix system formulation to represent the physical phenomena underlying the CASSI measurements. The new formulation allows the design of spectrally selective CASSI measurements. Given a desired spectral sensing profile, the model permits the calculation of the minimum number of measurements needed for reconstruction, as well as the required structure of the code apertures. Simulations show the spectrally selective properties of the code aperture designs.
