Optimization of double-helix point spread function for photon-limited 3D imaging systems

Abstract

We present a double-helix point spread function (DH-PSF) optimized for particle superlocalization in three-dimensions. The DH-PSF has the lowest Cramer-Rao bound for axial estimation. The limitations to the rotation rate are investigated.
