Photonic Quantum Programmable Gate Arrays

Abstract

We describe a photonic integrated circuit architecture which can be reprogrammed to prepare any quantum state or operator, in principle deterministically. Gradient- based circuit optimization can automatically implement highly compact approximate quan-tum circuits with near-unity fidelity.
