Free-running, Monolithic Laser-based 8-GHz Photonic Microwave Generation

Abstract

An ultra-low noise 8-GHz microwave carrier was generated with a free-running monolithic mode-locked laser. The measured phase noise reached below-163 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz and-178 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offsets.
