20 GHz continuous electrical tuning of a high-power terahertz distributed-feedback laser

Abstract

Large electrical tuning of 20 GHz is demonstrated for a 3.3 THz distributed-feedback quantum-cascade laser at 56 K. A new scheme with phase-locked plasmonic microcavities realizes order-of-magnitude greater output-power and significantly improved far-field beam compared to previous results.
