Longitudinal Modes in Random Feedback Fiber Lasers

Abstract

An SOA-based random fiber laser is experimentally demonstrated with multimode operation dominant for high SOA currents. Single mode prevails only near the threshold current. Mode lifetime of ~1 ms and 6 kHz linewidth were measured.
