Standoff detection of bulk and trace elements using laser-induced fluorescence of laser ablation plumes

Abstract

We demonstrate 10 m standoff analysis of bulk and trace elements in laser-produced plasmas using tunable laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). LIF of laser-ablation plumes provides emission enhancement, higher spectral resolution in comparison with thermally-excited emission.
