Q-switched Laser Oscillation in Micro-Domain Controlled Yb:FAP Anisotropic Laser Ceramics

Abstract

Using polycrystalline Yb3+-doped fluoroapatite (Yb:FAP), we investigated quantum mechanics for orientation-control of microdomains in anisotropic laser ceramics with 4f-electrons of RE3+-ion. Kilowatt-level sub-ns laser pulses were generated with the extraction density of 0.34 J/cm3.
