Er:fiber frequency comb for optical synthesis with mHz resolution

Abstract

We describe an erbium-fiber laser frequency comb that supports optical frequency synthesis at the millihertz level, or fractionally as 3×10-18 τ−1/2, by ensuring all critical fiber paths are within the servo-controlled feedback loop.
