How short should your nonlinear crystal be for pulse diagnostic?

Abstract

Ultrashort pulse diagnostic require a nonlinear crystal satisfying the conflicting requirements of fidelity in reconstruction and efficiency. It is shown that correct autocorrelations can be obtained with longer crystals than generally assumed.
