Star coupler for high-etendue LIDAR

Abstract

A 1:480 star coupler is designed for high-etendue LIDAR applications and demonstrated using silicon waveguides. A large 0.96-mm output aperture and dense output waveguide spacing of 2 µm allows for a narrow 0.072° far-field spot.
