Abstract

We report on observations of simultons, bright-dark soliton pairs, in femtosecond optical parametric oscillators. Simulton formation generates stable sub-50-fs half-harmonic pulses with sech2 envelopes, slope efficiencies >400%, and conversion efficiencies > 50%.
