Ultrasound detection with surface plasmon resonance on fiber end-facet

Abstract

A surface plasmon resonance cavity on an optical fiber end-facet is designed and demonstrated for ultrasound detection. A noise equivalent pressure of 25 KPa over 20 MHz, almost omni-directional response and stable performance are reported.
