Photocathode lasers for Free-Electron Lasers

Abstract

Current and future free-electron lasers (FELs) require precisely triggered, bright bunches of electrons. These bunches are generated using a charged photocathode and a strong ultrashort laser pulse to trigger the emission. A systematic overview on current and future lasers for this application will be given.
