7-cycle pulses from an Er-fiber laser with self-similar evolution in comb-like dispersion-decreasing fiber

Abstract

Self-similar evolution in a comb-like dispersion-decreasing fiber inside an erbium fiber laser is demonstrated. The laser generates 37-fs and 1.3-nJ pulses, which equal the shortest from an Er fiber laser but with 4 times the peak power.
