Femtosecond Laser Machining of Micron-Diameter Graphitized Columns in Diamond

Abstract

Graphitized columns with ~1 μm diameter through ~500 μm-thick diamonds are formed by femtosecond laser machining using both aberration-corrected and Bessel beam focusing with high numerical aperture for development of radiation-hard, high-energy particle detectors.
