Coherent Beam Combining in Er3+ Doped Multicore Fiber with 1480nm Core Pumping

Abstract

Coherent beam combining of 7 erbium-doped cores of a multicore fiber amplifier is demonstrated. Diffractive optical element is used to spatially combine output beams. 45% combination efficiency is achieved using stochastic parallel gradient descent algorithm.
