Efficient and low noise frequency downconversion from the 980 nm band to the 1550 nm band using Si3N4 microrings

Abstract

We demonstrate frequency downconversion from 980 nm to 1550 nm with an efficiency of 60% and pW-level background noise power, via four-wave-mixing Bragg scattering in Si3N4 microrings using < 60 mW continuous wave pump power.
