Abstract

We fabricate a graded-index lens on the tip of a single-mode optical fiber for fiber-to-waveguide coupling, using focused ion beam milling. The lens focuses a 10.4 µm mode into a beam size of 3.4 µm, at a wavelength of 1550 nm.
