Abstract

Approximately a quarter of stars are now believed to host potentially habitable exoplanets. Thanks to recent advances in wavefront control and starlight suppression techniques, telescopes and instruments are now being developed to identify and characterize such planets around nearby stars. I will describe these efforts, and show how optical tricks will soon allow search for life in our galactic neighborhood.
