Abstract
We discuss optical properties of two-dimensional materials ranging from insulating hexagonal boron nitride, semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides such as molybdenum disulfide and black phosphorus, to semi-metallic graphene. We also cover their potential applications in photonics.
