Enhanced Q with Internally Coupled Microring Resonators

Abstract

We demonstrate fourfold quality factor (Q) enhancement with microring resonators internally coupled to larger microring resonator. Q ~ 37,000 is obtained for a 5 µm radius microring in a 40 µm × 40 µm footprint device.
