Light scattering from laser pulse-induced travelling inhomogeneities

Abstract

Light scattering from a Kerr induced inhomogeneity is revisited, unveiling novel emission channels resulting essentially from the formation of shock front instabilities. These exhibit different features in the presence of negative or positive GVD.
