Surface Plasmon Polariton High-Speed Modulator

Abstract

We demonstrate the first 34 µm long plasmonic phase modulator for data rates of 28 Gbit/s (BER = 4×10−3). Its frequency response is flat until 45 GHz over an 80 nm range near 1550 nm.
