Abstract
We demonstrate the first non-magnetic CMOS-compatible optical isolator on a silicon chip. The isolator is based on indirect interband photonic transition, created by electrically-driven dynamic refractive index modulation on a two-mode waveguide. We observe a strong contrast (up to 3dB) in the transmission coefficient along the forward and backward directions.
