Frequency conversion in the visible and UV regions of a high average power and high peak power ultrafast fiber amplifier

Abstract

In this contribution, we report on the frequency conversion into the visible and UV region of a high average power and high energy ultrafast fiber amplifier. The laser uses a very compact chirped pulse fiber amplifier architecture that delivers as much as 385 µJ of energy and 1 GW of peak power per pulse. It includes only one power amplifier composed of a state-of-the-art photonic crystal fiber which allows operation at high repetition rate (> 100 kHz) and high average power (~ 100W). Subsequent frequency conversion is demonstrated and up to 150 µJ, 90 µJ and 35 µJ are achieved at, respectively, 515 nm, 343 nm and 258 nm for a maximum of 250 µJ at the fundamental wavelength. Additionally, recent results will be presented focusing on average power rather than energy for which 50 W at 515 nm and 25 W at 343 nm will be presented.
