Photonic chip based tunable slow and fast light via stimulated Brillouin scattering

Abstract

We report the first demonstration of on-chip tunable slow- and fast-light via stimulated Brillouin scattering. We observe group-index ranging from ~-44 to +130 in a 7cm long chalcogenide waveguide at a low gain of ~23dB.
