Characterization of the RIN-to-Phase-Noise Conversion in the Microwave Synthesis from Mode-locked Lasers

Abstract

The noise conversion from the relative intensity noise to the phase noise in the microwave synthesis (photodetection process) from mode-locked lasers is investigated and is found to decrease as 1/f with the noise frequency.
