Low Power Polarization Modulation of Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers

Abstract

Vertical cavity surface emitting lasers with anisotropic cavity supports two orthogonal polarizations, and current injection direction selects the dominant polarization. Low power, high extinction ratio modulation requiring < 200 mV is demonstrated.
