Ultrafast Transition from Intra- to Interlayer Exciton Phases in a Van Der Waals Heterostructure

Abstract

The binding energy of interlayer excitons is measured by revealing a novel 1s-2p resonance in the mid infrared. Intralayer excitons transform directly into interlayer species via ultrafast electron tunneling strongly influenced by the stacking angle.
