Engineering Infrared Quantum Fluctuations to Generate Light from UV through Gamma Rays

Abstract

We show that plasmonic vacuum fluctuations can lead to a passive radiation source at UV to gamma ray energies. Its per-electron power is comparable to synchrotrons with a 1 Tesla field and is density-of-states tunable.
