Abstract
Photonic structures that are modulated not only in space, but also in time, have recently attracted a lot of attention for a variety of non-trivial applications, including slow light, optical diodes and circulators, and photonic topological insulators. Here, we study a coupled-cavity waveguide in which the resonance frequency of each cavity is sinusoidally modulated in time, with a site-dependent phase. We then demonstrate a range of interesting dynamics that can be achieved in various regimes defined by the underlying system parameters.
