Programmable, Time-Dependent Optical Heating in Water using a Nano-patterned Silicon Membrane

Abstract

We use a photonic-crystal pattern to create an absorptive resonance near 970nm. We carry out experiments and simulations to show that all-dielectric, programmable microheaters can be achieved using this design and operate in water.
