Cross-Interaction of Quadratic and Cubic Nonlinearities in Four-Wave Mixing in GaAs at 10μm

Abstract

We have measured the efficiency of collinear four-wave mixing of CO2 laser beat-waves in GaAs for different crystal orientations. We deduce significant contribution of cascaded difference frequency generation to the effective nonlinear refractive index.
