Probing the Phase Transition in VO2 Using Few-Cycle, Few-Femtosecond Pulses

Abstract

We demonstrate in VO2, a nearly instantaneous band gap collapse which initiates a phase transition using few-cycle, few-femtosecond laser pulses to measure the change in the optical transmission of the sample in a pump-probe configuration.
