Femtosecond nonlinear response of bulk plasmons in a highly doped semiconductor

Abstract

Using midinfrared 2-color pump-probe spectroscopy we study longitudinal bulk plasmons in ZnO. The plasmon resonance undergoes a strong red-shift upon intraband excitation of electrons caused by an enhanced mass in the hot plasma.
