Abstract
Magnetic circular dichroism in the extreme ultraviolet (XUV) spectral range is a powerful technique for element-specific and time-resolved probing of magnetization in multicomponent magnetic alloys and multilayers. We generate a circularly polarized XUV spectrum from a high-harmonic source by an efficient reflection-based phase shifter and demonstrate for the first time laboratory based, ultrafast resonant magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) absorption spectroscopy. We apply this novel technique to directly access the time-resolved dynamics of interface magnetism of a Pt/Co/Pt sample system.
