Observation of Highly Robust Phase-defect Induced Photonic States

Abstract

We introduce a class of 1D photonic structures possessing a global phase-shift across a bulk periodic structure. Transmission experiments reveal localized states whose transmission peak locations exhibit dramatic robustness when compared with conventional defect modes.
