Control of Saturation Characteristics in a Fiber Optical Parametric Amplifier by Raman Amplification

Abstract

We report suppression of pump depletion and signal gain reduction in a fiber optical parametric amplifier with a backward Raman pump. The depletion and gain saturation characteristics can be controlled by tuning the Raman gain.
