Abstract
We measure self-compression of femtosecond laser pulses in an experiment using simple geometrical focusing onto a 100 µm gas plume at relativistic intensities. Stable and uniform self-compression from 36 fs to 16 fs is measured using second-harmonic-generation frequency-resolved optical gating.
