Silicon optical switch based on a tapered W1 photonic crystal waveguide with thermo-optic effect

Abstract

Thermo-optic switch based on W1 photonic crystal waveguide is demonstrated, high extinction ratio of 23.5 dB has been experimentally achieved under a switching power as low as 8.9 mW while the device is only 16.8-µm-long.
