Towards femtosecond laser writting of non-conventional waveguide Bragg gratings in silver-containing glasses

Abstract

New type of Direct Laser Writing opens possibilities of building both 3D functions and 3D photonic integrated circuits made of silver clusters embedded in a silver-containing photosensitive glass matrix. Thanks to the small dimensions of the spatial distribution of clusters (lower than the diffraction limit, with inner features of 100 nm typically) and to the associated refractive index modifications, waveguide Bragg gratings have been fabricated, especially so as to target the visible range: the demonstration of such functionality is under study.
