The detection of gas-phase molecular species at low concentration levels is an attractive research field, supporting a wide variety of industrial, environmental, and biological applications. Among various types of detection methods, mid-infrared (MIR) laser absorption spectroscopy provides a unique opportunity for selective and sensitive detection by targeting the characteristic spectral patterns in the so-called MIR fingerprint region.
