Abstract
We report on the development of a 946 nm Nd:YAG laser with < 3 ns pulse duration and the output pulse energy exceeding 20 mJ. The laser is designed to be used as master oscillator of 946 nm Nd:YAG calibration laser for plasma diagnostics in the ITER divertor Thomson scattering [1]. This application requires nanosecond pulses with high pulse shape stability.
