Abstract

All-dielectric and semiconductor nonlinear nanophotonics has recently provided unprecedentedly efficient optical interaction between magnetic and electric resonances due to very low losses [1,2]. Fine-tuning of the sizes of single dielectric nanodisks allows for spectral control of their resonances. Additionally, dimers, which are composed of two dielectric nanodisks with a subwavelength gap, supporting both electric and magnetic multipoles, may act as more efficient light concentrators, exceeding the magnetic field intensity of single nanodisks by two order of magnitudes [3]. Dimers may also enhance the local density of states, and thus, for example, may modify magnetic transition rates in quantum emitters [4]. Silicon nanodisks and dimers, which are CMOS compatible, have been extensively studied [5]. However, recently AlGaAs-on-oxide monolithic nanoantennas that are compatible with nanophotonic technology have been developed [6,7], paving the way for record high second order nonlinearities [8], and efficient generation of quantum entangled photon pairs through spontaneous parametric down-conversion.
