Abstract
While the ultra-fast nonlinear response of the electronic polarizability has been demonstrated almost as early as the invention of the laser, its inherent weakness has required the developement of suitable laser sources in order to fully exploit its potential for applications and to investigate the properties of nonlinear waves. An effective strategy to reduce the amount of optical power is to increase the interaction length, which implies very low propagation losses.
