Abstract
There are many applications, such as high peak-power core-pumped Yb-doped or Er-doped fiber amplifiers, that requires single-mode high average power pump near 976 nm. Commercially available semiconductor single-mode diodes (pigtailed with single-mode fiber) operated at this wavelength have output power below 1 W, which strongly limits possible application of such devices. Solution of this problem is utilization of Yb-doped fiber lasers operating at 976 nm [1, 2]. However such lasers utilize microstructured active fibers that do not allow creation of all-fiber laser schemes.
