Abstract

The fiber laser market is steadily growing during the last years due to the excellent ruggedness of the lasers. The output power for cw-fiber lasers could be dramatically increased since large mode area (LMA) fibers were introduced [1]. Key components for all-integrated fiber lasers are the fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs), which act as cavity mirrors. However, LMA fibers support higher order modes causing mode coupling, when the FBGs are inhomogeneous over the fiber cross-section.
