Abstract

An experimental and theoretical study of high-order harmonic generation (HHG) by two-colour laser pulses with strong indication of isolated attosecond pulse (IAP) generation by multi-cycle driver pulses is presented. We use an 800 nm, 35 fs NIR laser pulse, combined with 1300 nm, 50 fs MIR pulse to generate high-order harmonics in a 6 mm long gas cell filled with neon at 500 mbar pressure. The laser pulse energies of 6 and 4 mJ for the NIR and MIR pulses enable the use of a loose focusing geometry and thus the generation of high-order harmonics with very high photon flux of 107 photons/shot in a continuum spectrum from 70 to 160 eV, representing an increase of more than two orders of magnitude in photon flux [1], or 130 eV in photon energy [2] over previous two-colour experiments.
